When done right, floral patterns can look timelessly stylish. Here are a few sea-foamy and minty-colored floral dresses I recently came across that I think are perfect for spring and summer:
As the dresses and shoes are already stand-outs, I would stick to nude or white-colored tights/or gloves if you’re going to wear any. Rather than sporting a fasincator that might potentially clash and take the focus out of the beautiful floral patterns of the dresses, I would either compliment the floral patterns by either sticking onto your hair small flower(s) that match the flowers on the dress or wear a plain white hat with a decent width brim. Maybe even a white lace hairband would suffice. Or white pearl pins (if you’re not already wearing white pearl jewelry – there is such a thing as too much white pearls).
The left one would go well with the first dress (the right one isn’t too bad either):
In my previous fashion post about how to dress for a hat (https://monalisamoon.wordpress.com/2014/03/22/how-to-dress-for-a-hat/), I started off with a hat and made sure everything else that came thereafter complimented the hat. In this situation, I started with the dress first and everything else that came thereafter complimented it. So the secret is to decide what fashion item you want to show off (the statement piece) and make sure that all the other parts of your outfit have just that effect for that item you want to show off. This is why it’s good to have a balance between statement pieces and neutral pieces. Some people own primarily neutral pieces (which is practical for packing when traveling or if you want to live a practical life otherwise) but if you want to shine in the crowd rather than blend in, it’s important to invest in statement pieces.
Update May 13th, 2014: I couldn’t resist adding more to the collection of floral dresses I have my eyes on. So here’s a two more that I think would fit right in with the rest of the entry.
